MAI BHAGO ACADEMY MOHALI (MBAFPI)
Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) was established in 2015 by the Government of Punjab in Sector 66, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) to train girls from Punjab for commissioning into the Indian armed forces. The institute operates under the governance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab.

Eligibility Criteria for Mai Bhago AFPI (10th Level Entry)
- The applicant must be a resident of Punjab.
- She must be appearing for the Class X board examination.
- Students who have already passed Class X and are currently in Class XI may also apply, provided they meet the age requirements. However, if selected, they will have to repeat Class XI at Mai Bhago AFPI.
- Candidates must meet the prescribed physical fitness standards.
- They should have the aspiration to join the National Defence Academy (NDA).
The institute follows a structured two-year curriculum designed to enhance a Class X student’s potential for NDA selection. The training program focuses on academic excellence, leadership development, and personality growth, preparing students for a permanent commission in the Indian Defence Services after completing Class XII in the Non-Medical stream.
During this two-year tenure, cadets receive specialized training at Mai Bhago AFPI while simultaneously completing their Class XII studies. Upon successful training, they become eligible for NDA selection at Khadakvasla.
Admission Process
- Admission notifications are published in leading newspapers every November.
- Applications must be submitted online at http://recruitment-portal.in/ before the December deadline.
- The written entrance examination is conducted every January.
- Around 80 top-performing candidates from the written test are shortlisted for interviews in January, followed by a physical fitness test and medical assessment.
- The final merit list is compiled based on candidates' performance in the written exam and interview.
Initially, call letters were issued to the top 10 candidates, but this number has now increased to 20 as per the merit list. Selected candidates are invited to join the academy in April.
